Pays-de-la-Loire, meaning as much as 'countries on the Loire', is an administrative region that includes parts of old provinces. These are parts of the former Maine, Anjou, Poitou and Brittany. The capital is Nantes, a city that used to be the capital of Brittany. Pays-de-la-Loire is also known as the Atlantic Loire region. The region has beautiful sandy beaches, authentic French towns and forests and hills. The French therefore also call it the 'Garden of France'. No wonder, because beautiful bike rides and walks can be made here. In addition, this region is not yet flooded by tourists!
City of green lines
The old capital of Brittany is now the capital of Pays-de-la-Loire. Nantes is one of the nicest cities in France. The bustling city center has many nice shops. Technicians and artists have settled on an island in the Loire and can enjoy their spectacular technical feats, such as the 12 meter high elephant. And especially for the tourists, green lines have been drawn through the streets that take you past the most beautiful places.
